Why the name: Braided Legacy
Everyone has a different voice. Captured well, those voices don't pull apart. They help people move in the same direction, the way separate strands become one braid.
Leadership is what you leave behind when you leave. Decisions shaped by the people they affect create impact that lasts beyond any one leader.
The braided rivers of Aotearoa-the Waimakariri, the Waitaki, the Clutha-don't flow as a single channel. They spread across the riverbed in dozens of paths, weaving and separating and meeting again. A community works the same way.
No single voice is the whole picture. But when you weave them together-the student and the teacher, the board member and the volunteer, the voice in English and the one in Samoan or te reo Māori, something whole emerges. That's when the braid stays intact. That's what we're here to do.
